Imagine curling up with a warm mug of smooth and creamy spiced milk between your hands, smelling a spice bouquet of Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, and turmeric, and sipping a cozy beverage that feels like "a hug from the inside"...that is what Turmeric Latte Mix provides in a nut shell.
"Golden Milk" is an ancient Ayurvedic ("science of life") beverage that has exploded in popularity in the current health and wellness scene within the past few years. What was once a traditional homemade Indian health tonic to ward off inflammation and other ailments has now become a widely accessible and delicious beverage bringing Ayurvedic practices to coffee shops and health food stores across America.
Golden Milk is traditionally a simple blend of milk and turmeric, but has since been upgraded with a more diverse blend of spices such as cinnamon, vanilla, and cardamom to make a formerly pungent drink more palatable and delicious. While there are a plethora of golden milk spice blends available for purchase on the market, none of them tout the impressive ingredients sourcing, production quality, or philanthropic mission as does the product made by Turmeric Latte Mix.
If you had the opportunity to invest in a health-boosting, all-natural product that was not only free from additives and added sugar but that also supports organic farmers, empowers young lives, is caffeine free, and good for the world, would you do it? In this interview, I had the pleasure of learning more about the invaluable mission that the team behind Turmeric Latte Mix has embarked upon and how you can make a difference in the lives of young people while investing in your own greatest asset, your health!
psssstt...stick around until the end of this interview where you will receive a special 25% discount so you can try Turmeric Latte Mix for yourself!

Tristan (Honest to Goodness Health): "Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me about the Turmeric Latte Mix product as well as the important mission of your company! As an introduction, can you talk about the mission behind Turmeric Latte Mix and how your product can be differentiated from other wellness products on the market?"
Taylor with TLM: Turmeric Latte Mix started simply as a beverage we served in the café Nature's Harvest in Cottesloe, Western Australia. Hament and Sonal, the owners of Nature's Harvest, completely renovated the health shop to be a health destination in Perth that included a health food cafe, smoothie and juice bar, coffee bar, and retail health products. One of our Goodness TEAM members said “why don’t we serve a turmeric latte?” Hament and Sonal grew up drinking golden milk, which was simply hot milk with turmeric, and they remembered as kids not liking it very much, so the goal in serving our own version of a turmeric latte was to create a healthy and delicious anti-inflammatory beverage. After some working and tweaking of the mix, the Goodness TEAM all agreed that it was “WOW!” (that was our standard...if something wasn’t “WOW!" it wasn’t going on the menu)."
"We called it Turmeric Latte Mix because it wasn’t a traditional golden milk and it was different from any other turmeric latte we had tried. Our regular customers fell in love with our Turmeric Latte Mix and started asking if we could package it and sell it in the store. Then we had other cafes approach us about selling our blend in their coffee bars because our customers had been praising our Turmeric Latte Mix! At this point, we had no big driving force to widely distribute our product. Turmeric Latte Mix was not its own entity yet, and there was no vision of it being its own entity."
"Shortly thereafter, we met a young man who told us his story of going from having constant suicidal thoughts to living a life of nonstop smiles thanks to attending Magic Moment Youth Leadership Summit. At this point the game changed and we became advocates and sponsors for Magic Moments and wanted to contribute in providing scholarships for youths to attend the camp. We realized that we had a product that people wanted to buy and now we had a bigger purpose for selling it. Inspired to spread the light and the message of hope, we decided to donate $1 for every pack sold to Magic Moments Foundations to help youth in every country we deliver our product to."
"In an article about our Turmeric Latte Mix, Hament mentioned that we would raise over $1 million for Magic Moments, to which the journalist added unbeknownst to him ‘in the next 12 months’. As Hament, picked up the phone to revise her edit, he felt in his heart that this was not a mistake. Thus, our journey began! Working towards this higher purpose, we quickly expanded to over 250 outlets across Australia. The next step would be international."
A resounding “No.” came from everyone we initially approached in England, to stock Turmeric Latte Mix, including Whole Foods Market, whom we love. After 5 minutes of sitting in what felt like inevitable defeat, the movie “Walt before Mickey” came to Hament’s mind. Walt Disney failed numerous times before his success, and again his heart was ignited to never give up! With a card and heartfelt letter, he sent a sample of Turmeric Latte Mix to Wholefoods Market UK. To his surprise, a few weeks later he received an email from them, and with their newfound interest in us, they helped lead the way to introduce our product throughout the UK and support this greater cause. Although in our journey this mountain still seems impossibly high, we look up and see our purpose for a healthier generation and look back and realize even more that it tastes so good for a reason."
Tristan: "Wow, what an incredible start! As a small business owner myself, I can commiserate with the feeling of facing an unsurpassable mountain but looking within yourself for a greater purpose and motivation! Being that there are a variety of golden milk spice blend mixes available on the market, can you describe what traditional “Golden Milk” is and how Turmeric Latte Mix is different from other golden milk mixes?"
Hament with TML: "We grew up drinking Turmeric and Milk, especially in times of sickness, which is the traditional recipe in most Indian households. As kids we would run from our mums, so, when it was suggested we serve Turmeric Lattes at our health food store cafe my wife and I both laughed thinking "who’s going to drink turmeric and milk"? The suggestion of adding different spices by our nutrition student was an evolution of the original recipe. We had a learning curve and tweaked our recipe over a few months. Soon, customers began demanding take home packs but at that point we had no intention of distributing. Now that we are producing a product, we have had so many people who share how this is the best tasting Turmeric Latte Mix. We love knowing that it tastes good and is a vehicle for giving back to programs that literally saves lives such as the Magic Moment Youth Leadership Summit.
Here is a video of people trying the mix for the first time:
"Once they heard about our mission to donate to the Youth Summit, they immediately wanted a sample! "
"Some key distinctions in terms of ingredients is that we use organic, non-GMO ingredients and look for the highest quality. For example our Turmeric – contains 5% curcumin, we use Ceylon or “true” cinnamon known for its superior quality instead of cassia or “fake” cinnamon. Our vanilla is whole ground vanilla. Each one of the 7 unique spices is tested for heavy metals and microbiology and is gluten free. Our ingredients are ground very fine to give a smooth delicious texture without what some describe as a "gritty texture". We pack each product with love and our team is picked for their passion and intent to contribute for a better tomorrow. Additionally, this blend of spices is traditionally rooted in Ayurveda as a health tonic."
Tristan: "Can you talk about the connection between Ayurveda and the modern health and wellness scene and how Turmeric Latte Mix fits into this equation?"
Hament with TML: "To answer this question and make sure we add value to readers we asked our good friend and Ayurveda ambassador Chara Caruthers who is a member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) and the Association of Ayurvedic Practitioners North America (AAPNA). She is also a Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Wellness Coach & Author of the book "Eat Like You Love Yourself - A Modern Guide to Ayurvedic Cooking and Living."
Chara Caruthers, C-IAYT: "Ayurveda is an ancient system of health and living that is as relevant today as it has ever been as a set of lifestyle tools for creating and maintaining wellness. Following on the footsteps of it’s sister science, yoga, Ayurveda is being poised to fill a gap in our approach to well being by turning our focus toward prevention of illness and expanding our understanding and adoption of simple practices that can make a big difference in our lives."
"For centuries, Ayurveda has promoted the health giving qualities of common spices like ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, and black pepper as flavor boosting and easily accessible tonics for improving digestion, reducing inflammation, managing pain, and increasing immunity. All required for preventing or managing many of the common chronic conditions that have arisen out of our modern way of living. But even more than having us understand and embrace the concept of using our food as medicine, Ayurveda promotes a more holistic approach to authentic wellness that includes things like building self care into our daily living, looking after our mental and emotional wellness, and embracing the part we all have to play in the health of our communities."
"Yes, the ancients figured out that our wellness (and happiness) is impacted by our contribution and connection to the world around us. Turmeric Latte Mix is more than a easy way to get your daily dose of nutrients. The founders have embraced the idea that we rise by lifting others, by creating a health supporting product that provides a vehicle for giving back. So in the spirit of Ayurveda, it’s a simple, delicious way of making a powerful contribution to the wellness of the individual... and the world."
"Turmeric, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, chili and black pepper all have heating qualities, which means that they pack a powerful heating punch! All milks (cows, nut milks, grain milks) have cooling properties which makes latte a great way to consume this powerful heating mixture in a way that is balanced."
Tristan: "What are some of the common benefits that users of the product can expect when incorporating Turmeric Latte Mix into their wellness routines and lifestyle?"
Taylor with TLM: "One of our core beliefs is that food is powerful and everything we choose to put into our body can either fuel health or fuel disease. By incorporating Turmeric Latte Mix into daily or even weekly consumption, people can be sure they are fueling health and vitality. We’ve been recommended by chiropractors for patients with inflammatory conditions and friends and family have spoken to me about various improvements they have noticed since starting to incorporate Turmeric Latte Mix into their wellness routine."
"Everyone is different and can notice varying effects. The spices in the mix have been researched for different symptoms ranging from digestion, to metabolism, to brain function and overall inflammation. I personally notice the digestive benefits and when I am training for a trail running race I have Turmeric Latte Mix everyday to fight inflammation. I have been a big turmeric fan for a while and I try to take it in whole food form for the best absorption and bioavailability. Having Turmeric Latte Mix has helped me stay consistent with my turmeric consumption because it is delicious and I think of it like a treat!"
Tristan: Can you speak about the scientifically researched benefits of the ingredients used in Turmeric Latte Mix?
Taylor with TLM:
"Turmeric is being extensively studied for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which suggest that daily consumption may lower the risk of heart disease, cancer and arthritic conditions, as well as support healthy brain function.
"Ceylon or “TRUE” cinnamon’s superior antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities have been researched to improve some key risk factors for heart disease, including cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure, as well as help balance blood sugar levels."
"Cardamom is similar to ginger in its traditional use for digestive concerns, while also being thought of as a detoxifier and antioxidant. Vanilla has been used for centuries and regarded as a ‘super food’ for enhancing mood and brain health."
"Ginger is traditionally used to relieve nausea and morning sickness. It’s anti-inflammatory properties may also help with muscle pain and help lower risk of infections."
"Chili has been found in studies to decrease pain and inflammation, help control weight by stimulating metabolism and improve immunity with its antioxidant content."
"Black pepper has been shown to enhance nutrient absorption and bio availability of turmeric, as well as improve digestion."
Tristan: "I think readers will be extremely interested to learn about the plethora of benefits from the Turmeric Latte Mix blend of medicinal spices! On your website, you described how the ingredients for this mix are sourced from farmers in Sri Lanka. Can you talk about the importance of this aspect of your business and why it is important for consumers to support companies that source in this fashion?"
Hament with TML: "Cyndi O’Meara, producer of the movie: What’s With Wheat, introduced us to the farmers from whom we source out ingredients. We loved the concept of supporting a cooperative of organic farmers and their community. When the focus is on buying cheaper ingredients, we get lost in the idea of "what can I get" and "how can I squeeze".
"This has to change, and our actions have consequences."
"When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in my early days as a pharmacist she asked me 2 years prior if the hormone replacement medication she was taking was safe. I told her what it said in the British National Formulary at the time, “ the benefits outweigh the risks”. The World Woman Study then changed this recommendation! The medication I was dispensing for my mother caused her the cancer! It made me realize that everything we do impacts others. So what does this have to do with sourcing ingredients? Well it changed our awareness that when we source ingredients it’s either good for me, good for others and good for the greater good or its not good for me, not good for others and not good for the greater good. We have a choice."
"When we deal with these farmers who are doing good and support them we support their family too, their good way of life, and their better choices. It’s a "we" verses "I" mindset. A Whole Lotta Goodness™ is about leaving a positive legacy for the world."
Tristan: "What is your deepest intention with creating Turmeric Latte Mix or in what way do you hope this product impacts the world?"
Hament with TML: "Our inspiration to distribute came when a young man shared his story of transformation from being suicidal at the age of 13 to nonstop smiling after participating in the Magic Moment Youth Leadership Summit. It was this idea of hope for others that inspired us to distribute Nature’s Harvest Turmeric Latte Mix for the purpose of raising money to provide scholarships for young people to be empowered."
"Suicide is one of the biggest killers of young people today. When it happens, often people say we never expected that person to do that. This youth camp is for all young people. One of the key shares that comes out from their participation in the program is that they believe in themselves. This is powerful and prevents the individual from being labeled with a mental illness or being medicated long-term! Our vision is to inspire over 20 million people by 2020 to support this organization through purchasing our produce. We want to bring to light the magnificence in people, especially our youth. We’ve committed to raise over 20 million by 2020 in order to positively impact communities in every country in which we distribute."
Tristan: Thank you so much for not only taking the time to share your story with me and my readers, but for also leading this important mission to empower young lives.
